FAQs
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions; I’d love to hear from you!
What is Somatic Coaching?
It’s body-oriented coaching which brings awareness to feelings and sensations in your body, allowing it to become your resource as opposed to a vessel for your mind. From here, you can rewrite stories, break down barriers, and step your wholeness into your vision.
What happens in a Move To Feel session?
It’s an hour of dropping out of our busy-thinking mind and into the thinking body that senses and feels the world within and around us. Everyone wears silent disco headsets which connect to a bespoke playlist of eclectic music and Ailsa’s microphone, so you are constantly connected and supported with her live guidance. A unique structure takes you on a movement journey, beginning by connecting to breath and bones, before freestyle movement begins, then we end with stillness.
“But what if I’m not a ‘dancer’?”
Great, whether you are or aren’t, this is for you! No rhythm, no skill, no routines and no experience necessary. All my guidance is an invitation which you can take or leave for your own comfort and enjoyment.
“What if I don’t consider myself fit or have health issues?”
Absolutely all body shapes, ages and abilities are perfect. Each class meets you where you are at that day.
Can’t imagine yourself doing this in public, in the daytime?!
Everyone feels nervous when they first come; it’s our minds rightly telling us that it’s not in our normal pattern to dance sober at 9am, on a weekday, in the middle of a park. It soon becomes normal, though, and you will crave more. I always lead with beginners in mind, and will partner you through the whole class.
Oh, plus the headsets have superpowers that mean you are invisible and invincible, so you’ll soon give no f**ks ;-)
What will I need to bring?
Comfy clothes are best; layers to peel off whilst you move and to add on again for stillness. I like to be barefoot when possible but you can equally wear soft shoes or boots in winter months. Bring a yoga mat or something to lie on, water, and tissues to hand.
What if it rains?
Get your wellies, hat, scarf and gloves on — think festival fun! If the weather is utterly horrendous or warnings issued, then outdoor classes will be cancelled or transferred to Zoom.
Will I get a refund if I’m ill or miss a class?
Booking is essential, and 24 hours’ notice is required for a cancellation. Do speak to me, though, as we can often work out another class option.
